Position Summary

The Assistant Volleyball Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the volleyball program, including training, game preparation, player development,  and administrative duties. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong knowledge of the game, the ability to motivate and mentor athletes, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and conducting practice sessions focused on skill development, conditioning, and team strategy.
  • Support the Head Coach in game-day preparation, including scouting opponents, setting lineups, and managing in-game decisions.
  • Provide individual and small group instruction to improve player skills and techniques.
  • Promote teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and academic achievement among student-athletes.
  • Aid in recruiting and evaluating prospective players (for college or club programs).
  • Monitor academic progress and overall well-being of athletes (if applicable).
  • Maintain equipment, uniforms, and inventory in coordination with coaching staff.
  • Travel with the team to away games and tournaments as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational, league, and governing body rules and regulations.
  • Serve as a positive role model and representative of the team and institution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred .
  • Previous coaching or playing experience in volleyball at the high school, collegiate, or club level.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of volleyball rules, strategies, and teaching techniques.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel.

Compensation

This is a part-time position with an hourly rate of $25. 

Physical Requirements

This role may require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted, including assisting coworkers when needed. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, and running.
