Position Overview Under supervision of the Athletic Director and the direction of a head coach, assist athletes and coaches in assigned intercollegiate athletic classes; teach rules, specific skills, and strategies to student athletes during scheduled classes; provide technical support to coaches by assisting with game management and recruitment to promote the intercollegiate program throughout the District. Major Responsibilities Teach rules, skills, and strategies to student athletes in scheduled classes. Work individually or in groups with athletes, reinforcing or following up on coaching instructions. Explain concepts and principles of gamesmanship to athletes. Manage distribution and inventory of athletic supplies, materials, and equipment. Assist athletes with proper selection, operation, and care of equipment and gear. Assist coach with game management and recruitment activities. Operate transportation van as required. Prepare materials and equipment for demonstrations. Ensure safety procedures are observed and report progress to coaching staff. Perform maintenance, repair, and ordering of equipment. Provide training and direction to student assistants. Maintain clean and secure athletic areas and facilities. Perform any related duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge: Game management, rules, skills, strategies of assigned sport, equipment operation, teaching methods, record‑keeping, safety regulations, communication skills, and familiarity with the California Community College system. Skills & Abilities: Effective instruction, leadership, independent work, teamwork, communication, maintenance, organization, reporting, and documentation. Training & Experience: Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to three years of tutoring or instructional experience related to athletics and satisfactory completion of specialized athletic training. Desired Qualifications: Valid California driver’s license or Class B license with a valid medical certificate.
