Under the supervision of the Crime Analyst Supervisor, (CA Sup) the Crime Analyst (CA) I in the Investigative Database Services Section (IDSS) Stolen Vehicle Unit (SVU) is responsible for performing specialized research associated with the Stolen Vehicle System/Automated Boat System (SVS/ABS). The CA I reviews entries made by law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in the SVS/ABS for completeness, verifies the reporting requirements are met, and analyzes information to correct inaccurately reported information. This includes using a variety of resources to analyze and resolve errors and provide assistance to LEAs with complex database system entries. Research and analyze SVS/ABS records, define search parameters, and conduct special searches for LEAs for investigative and record purposes. The CA I validates the information of a variety of vehicles, vessels, parts, plates and analyzing the issues resulting from errors of vehicles that are stored, impounded, re possessed or associated with a missing person maintained with the SVS/ABS. Additionally, the CA I assists with testing of database functionality as necessary. Duties also include working with LEAs to ensure compliance with Criminal Justice Information System and Federal Bureau of Investigations National Crime Information Center’s policies and procedures .

This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.
This position is eligible for telework, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
