Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the administrator of the site to which assigned and the Head Custodian, performs custodial services required to maintain assigned buildings or areas in a clean, orderly and secure manner; and performs related duties as assigned.


Cleans classrooms, restrooms, showers, locker rooms, shops, cafeterias, gymnasiums, offices, windows, grounds, and related facilities to ensure a clean, comfortable and safe environment; sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors; vacuums and shampoos rugs and carpets; dusts and polishes furniture and equipment; sets up buildings and rooms for meetings or special events; replaces light bulbs and fluorescent bulbs; cleans blackboards; performs minor unskilled repairs, such as replacing a washer in a faucet, tightening screws, or unplugging a clogged drain or toilet; picks up papers and debris on a daily basis; rakes, sweeps, blows, and waters ground; may raise and lower flags; locks and unlocks buildings, rooms, gates, and other facilities; sets alarms at completion of assignment; escorts authorized or unauthorized persons in or from site facility as needed; performs special custodial assignments as required; participates in thorough cleaning and restoration of a school during school vacations; operates power cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor cleaning equipment, polishers, scrubbers, and other electrical or mechanical tools or equipment, such as leaf blowers.
