Job Description

Your future role

At Alstom, you will take on a pivotal role as Depot Supervisor, leading and directing the logistics operators at an on‑site customer location. You will provide guidance and training, ensure that safety and production standards are met in line with facility requirements, and manage the full inventory cycle‑counting programme. You will develop our people through training and cross‑training initiatives, champion best practices, drive KPIs to monitor quality and performance, and support operational and project objectives across the logistics‑/supply‑chain function. You will report on inventory‑management activities — including slow, excess, and obsolete materials — and assist with off‑site supply‑chain‑related projects as needed.

You will direct your team with the goal of achieving same‑day turnaround for receipts, shipping, goods issue and core movements. You will manage accurate cycle counts, aiming for a target of 98 % or better. You will develop personnel in proficiency of SAP transactions, schedule work to support operations on a 24/7/365 basis as required, and contribute to a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise day‑to‑day logistics operations (goods receipts, goods issues, shipments, cycle counts, quality reporting, core process).

  • Manage material‑flow pathways and proactively troubleshoot/resolve operational issues in a professional and timely manner.

  • Identify, recommend and participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives; implement improvements in quality, safety, employee development, production processes and cost efficiency.

  • Collaborate with other departments (Quality, Engineering, Operations, Safety, Purchasing) to support overall performance.

  • Manage inventory transactions: shipping, receiving, quarantine, handling obsolete or excess material.

  • Supervise transactional data integrity and report on performance metrics.

  • Oversee and reconcile the cycle‑count programme, ensuring accuracy and integrity of material records.

  • Coordinate material movements between depots, warehouses and off‑site locations.

  • Plan and report key performance indicators related to depot and material activities.

  • Maintain a safe, clean and compliant work environment.

  • Undertake other special projects as assigned.

Contacts & interfaces

You will regularly interface with all Alstom site functions, management, customer representatives (on both shop‑floor and managerial levels), and external transportation carriers.

All about you

Education & certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

  • Hazmat certification (DOT or IATA) is a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of SAP is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in materials management or depot operations in a logistics/materials environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; strong planning, scheduling and data‑analysis skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication and solid mathematical aptitude.

Knowledge & competencies:

  • Thorough knowledge of customer‑service, operations and logistics disciplines.

  • Strong organisation and planning skills.

  • Understanding of domestic and international shipment regulations, company policies and government‑agency requirements.

  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, decision‑making, multi‑tasking, scheduling and follow‑through.

  • Confidentiality, logical reasoning and flexibility under pressure.

  • Professional, team‑oriented attitude.

Physical demands:

  • Some travel to various sites as required.

  • Performing a mix of sitting, standing, walking, filing and lifting materials up to 50 lbs (approx.).

  • Ability to work in different environmental conditions.

Working environment:

  • May involve exposure to truck emissions, noise, changing temperature and other environmental conditions.

  • This role supports a 24/7/365 operation and may involve shift work or schedule flexibility.
