Position Summary

Reporting to the VP, Dairy Trading, this role primarily supports trading and market research of the Business to Business (B2B) Dairy portfolio. The Trader will focus on position tracking and management, running proprietary positions, contract administration, business research and reporting. The successful candidate will possess strong relationship and communication skills required to manage and support our trading business. A high level of attention to detail and follow-up to ensure the dairy strategy is executed properly will be vital in ensuring success in this role.

Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the trading strategy and execution of designated trading book, the individual must possess strong risk tolerance and management skills.
  • Book size to be within Value-at-Risk (VaR) limits set by Risk Team.
  • Responsible for daily position management and reconciliation on physical and futures trading books across all traded Dairy products.
  • Execute trades for internal flows in derivatives instruments across various markets, including options, futures, and other derivatives products.
  • Ensure accurate and timely trade execution while adhering to company policies, regulatory requirements, and best execution practices.
  • Daily management of trade reconciliation – ensuring all trades are entered and booked correctly.
  • Responsible for developing comprehensive reporting and research, sharing insights with trading group, including covering market reports, internal purchase, sales, and position reports.
  • Present Trade research – both physical and technical flows, to the trading team – proposing trade ideas and strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with counterparties, brokers, and other market participants.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure all contract information is accurate and can be relied upon by all teams.
  • Stay updated on relevant regulations, exchange rules, and industry best practices

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, majors in Marketing, Finance, Business Administration, or related field are strongly preferred.
  • Graduate degree in finance, economics, or a quantitative field are a plus.
  • Five (5) years of experience in commodities markets is required.
  • Strong knowledge of derivatives products, including options, futures, and other complex instruments. Familiarity with trading strategies and risk management techniques.
  • Proficiency in utilizing trading platforms, order management systems, and market data/analytics tools.
  • Strong quantitative modeling skills and analytical abilities, attention to detail is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Motivation and resourcefulness to quickly solve difficult problems.
  • Ability to manage and deploy risk is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail is required.
  • Must be able to problem solve and handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Excel, Outlook, and Word, is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, effectively managing workload to meet deadlines, while ensuring a high standard of quality is required.
  • Individual should have a proven track record of working in a team setting, being action oriented, and taking initiative to seize opportunities to grow.

The pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $130,000 – $173,000 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on candidate’s experience, qualifications and/or other determining factors.
