Exciting opportunity for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support early childhood students in a collaborative educational environment. This position is focused on providing essential communication services for two elementary students during the summer session and into the 2025/2026 school year.

Qualifications:

• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (NIC or equivalent).
• Experience working with children, particularly in early childhood settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Familiarity with various sign language systems and interpreting techniques.
• Availability to work onsite, Tuesday through Friday.

Location: Bunkie, LA, in the Alexandria area.

Responsibilities:

• Provide interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, facilitating their access to educational content.
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure effective communication and support for student needs.
• Participate in individualized education program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development of communication goals.
• Maintain professional standards and stay updated on best practices in sign language interpreting and education.
• Support students during transitions and in cultivating social interactions with peers.
