Job Description

Overview
Senior network architect and lead technical expert supporting command-level projects and initiatives. Focuses on decomposing requirements into measurable performance parameters, designing enterprise-grade terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks, and coordinating across diverse teams to deliver integrated network solutions that meet security, performance, and lifecycle objectives. Key Responsibilities
Decompose requirements into technical performance metrics and specifications; translate user needs into actionable designs.
Architect and standardize global LAN/WAN networks across multiple transport mediums, including terrestrial and non-terrestrial links.
Assess feasibility of existing solutions against emerging operational needs.
Engage stakeholders to track milestones, capability roadmaps, fielding schedules, and release plans.
Define and manage threshold/objective features, use cases, and capabilities to align with integrated network architectures and service performance.
forecast total lifecycle costs and maintain data for outyear forecasting; develop schedules by analyzing plans, calculating durations, and sequencing work.
Monitor progress, coordinate activities, resolve impediments, and maintain project schedules.
Lead cross-disciplinary teams to present a unified network product to stakeholders; manage subcontractor work as needed.
Prepare status reports by analyzing trends and recommending actions related to network architectures and related activities.
Create, review, and maintain requirements documentation; conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation actions.
Ensure alignment with organizational processes for project management methodologies.
Guide teams through complex interoperability problems to meet urgent operational needs.
Advocate for services, drive value, and enhance network operations and warfighter effectiveness. What You’ll Do
Analyze and decompose combat communications and control system requirements; design and implement critical information flows over multi-path networks.
Plan and design enterprise-scale network systems and services; provide detailed architecture schematics and hardware/software recommendations.
Lead testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of network systems; maintain expertise across routers, switches, firewalls, gateways, and related components.
Oversee service lifecycle activities, including cyber compliance and related deliverables; assess changes that affect system authorizations.
Conduct deliverable reviews, drive corrective actions, and ensure secure architecture and coding practices.
Contribute to development efforts for new information systems and upgrades, considering network design constraints and security requirements.
Promote best practices in system and security engineering; implement effective testing and reporting processes.
Manage backlog and capability roadmaps to support evolving mission needs. Qualifications
BS and 15 years or HS Diploma and 19 years or Masters and 13 years of experience required. Certifications: CCNA or CCNP required.
Deep knowledge of network engineering, architecture, and automation; hands-on experience with design, activation, testing, and analysis of network systems.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence solution direction, and deliver measurable program results.
Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills. Technical Proficiencies (Preferred)
Routing and switching: BGP, MPLS, OSPF; VPNs; encryption; IPsec; TACACS+/RADIUS; QoS; VLANs; HSRP/VRRP; 802.1x
Networking and security: IDS/IPS, firewalling, load balancing, AAA, VPN/Tunnels, VPN/IPSec, VLANs
Platforms and tools: Cisco/Juniper ecosystems, Linux; Visio; capacity planning; disaster recovery; SNMP
Wireless and modern networks: Enterprise wireless services, Aruba APs; non-terrestrial/radio frequency integration
Documentation and standards: network diagrams, architectural artifacts, security reviews. Compensation:
$150,000 to $190,000 per year annual salary.
