Direct Nursing Services: Provide first aid, illness treatment, and emergency care to students and staff in accordance with professional standards, school policies, and state mandates.
Health Assessments: Conduct health screenings and assessments to identify health problems that may impact student learning and development.
IEP & 504 Plan Support: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement health-related goals and accommodations for students with disabilities as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans.
Medication Management: Develop and oversee medication protocols, ensuring safe storage, administration, documentation, and monitoring of medications given at school.
Health Education & Counseling: Provide health education and counseling to students, staff, and families on various health topics, including chronic conditions, nutrition, and mental health.
Crisis Intervention: Respond to school crises, such as medical emergencies, traumatic events, or deaths, providing immediate support and coordinating with appropriate personnel.
Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential health records, ensuring compliance with state and federal health regulations and school policies.
Collaboration: Work closely with school administrators, teachers, and parents to enhance cooperative action, meeting the health and safety needs of students.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Missouri.
Certification: Certification as a school nurse (Type 73) through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, or the ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
Experience: Previous experience in a school setting is preferred.
Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
Additional Requirements: CPR certification and the ability to pass a criminal background check.
Environment: Occasional exposure to typical school conditions, including dust, noise, and changing environments.
Activity: Frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Sensory: Ability to perform essential job functions with or without assistive devices or accommodations, including in moderate to high noise environments.
