Job Description

A K-12 educational setting in Crete, NE, is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students and staff throughout the upcoming school year. This contract position offers the opportunity to facilitate effective communication and enhance the learning experience for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a dynamic school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, meetings, and school activities
• Collaborate closely with teachers, students, and support staff to ensure accessibility and full participation
• Modify and adapt interpretation methods based on individual student needs and educational contexts
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
• Assist in developing communication strategies to enhance student engagement and inclusion

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpretation skills
• Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
• Familiarity with K-12 curriculum and terminology is an advantage
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Valid certification or credentials related to sign language interpretation are highly desirable
