Job Description

A K-12 school in Des Plaines, IL, is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for a contract position spanning the entire school year.

Key Qualifications:

• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting experience in educational settings
• Familiarity with K-12 curriculum and classroom environments
• Strong communication skills and ability to facilitate effective interaction between hearing and deaf or hard-of-hearing students, teachers, and staff
• Ability to work collaboratively with educators, students, and support personnel
• Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events
• Assist deaf or hard-of-hearing students in accessing curriculum and participating fully in educational activities
• Support communication between students, educators, and families as needed
• Maintain professionalism and adhere to school policies and guidelines

Location: Des Plaines, Illinois
Contract Duration: Full school year (NSY)
