Job Description

Summarized Purpose:

Sr Rheumatologist: Medical Director/Global Medical Indication Lead (FSP) based in the United States, ideally in Eastern or Central Time Zone. Fully remote position with 10-20% travel (international travel may be required).

Essential Functions

• Lead the clinical team for an indication, translating the TPP into a Clinical Development Plan that addresses key questions, ensuring quality, time, and budget adherence.
• Provide strategic medical insight throughout all development stages and own the Clinical Development Plan.
• Manage and mentor global Clinical Trial Physicians, ensuring high-quality medical support and identifying high performers.
• Oversee medical aspects of studies in real-time, communicating effectively with management and study teams.
• Ensure harmonization across studies and consistent communication with external stakeholders.
• Lead indication medical advisory boards as appropriate.
• Contribute to building and maintaining a top-tier team of development medical doctors.
• Ensure compliance of all studies within the indication.

Education and Experience

• Medical Doctor or equivalent degree; board certification preferred.
• Specialty training in rheumatology with patient treatment and/or research experience.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in drug development within pharma/biotech, covering phases I to registration.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Fluent in English, both written and spoken; ability to travel.
• Proven leadership and interpersonal skills in a global, intercultural environment.
• Proactive problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Clear vision and direction for study teams; expertise in clinical trial design and data interpretation.
• Excellent communication skills for transparency and clarity across teams.
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and perform under stress.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

• Office environment with occasional travel.
• Frequent stationary work; occasional mobility and physical activity.
• Ability to lift 15-20 lbs and use computer software effectively.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with diverse groups.

Pay Rate Range: $150-$179/hr depending on experience.
