What does the job involve? A Fabrication Welder is responsible for assembling and welding metal components to create structures and products according to specifications. This role involves interpreting blueprints, preparing materials, and performing welding operations using various techniques. This position also involves a combination of technical skills, precision, and attention to detail to ensure that the final products meet the required specifications and quality standards. What will my responsibilities and tasks include? • Interpret and analyze blueprints and technical drawings to determine welding requirements • Prepare materials by cutting, shaping, and aligning metal components • Perform welding operations using techniques such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding • Inspect welded joints to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications • Maintain welding equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition • Collaborate with other team members to ensure project completion within deadlines • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment • Document work progress and report any issues or discrepancies to supervisors What is the work context for this position? The environment may involve exposure to high temperatures, loud noises, and potentially hazardous materials. Lifting to 50 pounds. Requires protective gear such as hearing and eye protection and will be provided on the manufacturing floor. Safety-toe footwear must comply with ANSI Standard ANSI Z41-1991, no loose clothing, hair, or accessories. Observe all safety regulations of the department and the plant. What key knowledge and skills do I need? • Proficiency in welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings • Knowledge of metal properties and welding processes • Strong attention to detail and quality control • Physical stamina and dexterity to handle welding equipment and materials • Problem-solving skills to address welding challenges and ensure precision • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors • Understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to welding operations What qualifications and experiences should I have? • 2+ years of welding experience using various welding methods such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding. • Hands-on experience in cutting, shaping, and preparing metal components. • Vocational or Trade School courses in welding, metal fabrication preferred but not required. • CNC Press Brake experience a plus • Experience in reading and understanding blueprints • Familiarity with safety protocols and practices to maintain a safe working environment.
